The Parable of the Sower

1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. Parallel theme: Mark 2:13, 3:7

The Purpose of the Parables

10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. Parallel theme: Mark 4:34

11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of GodGod: Θεός (Theos). The Greek Theos (Θεός) refers to deity, used both for the one true God and false gods. The Parable of the Growing Seed

26 And he said, So is the kingdomKingdom: βασιλεία (Basileia). The Greek basileia (βασιλεία) means kingdom—both the realm ruled and the exercise of royal authority. The 'kingdom of God' is central to Jesus' teaching, representing God's saving rule breaking into history. of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; Kingdom: Matthew 13:24. The Parable of the Mustard Seed
