James 2
Warning Against Favoritism
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Parallel theme: James 2:6, Isaiah 65:5, 2 Corinthians 8:9, Jude 1:16
Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? Kingdom: Matthew 5:3, Luke 6:20, 12:32. References God: Luke 12:21. Love: James 1:12, 1 Corinthians 2:9. Parallel theme: 2 Corinthians 8:9, Hebrews 11:26, 1 Peter 1:4, Revelation 2:9 +5

Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? Parallel theme: Psalms 111:9, Matthew 1:23, Acts 11:26, 1 Timothy 1:13
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: Love: Leviticus 19:18, 19:34, Matthew 22:39, Galatians 5:14. Word: James 1:25, 2:12, Galatians 6:2. Parallel theme: 2 Kings 7:9, Jonah 4:4, 1 Peter 2:9 +5

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. Word: Romans 13:9
So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. Word: James 1:25, 2:8, Colossians 3:17. Parallel theme: Philippians 4:8

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Faith: James 2:14, Romans 3:28, 14:23, Galatians 5:6, 1 Timothy 1:5, Hebrews 11:6, 11:31, 11:33. Parallel theme: James 3:13, Titus 2:7 +5

References God: 2 Chronicles 20:7. References Abraham: Isaiah 41:8. Word: Romans 11:2. Parallel theme: Exodus 33:11
