Psalms 28
The Lord Is My Strength and My Shield
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. References Lord: Psalms 18:2, 143:7, Isaiah 26:4. Parallel theme: Psalms 22:2, 30:9, 83:1, Job 33:28, Proverbs 1:12, Isaiah 38:18, Revelation 20:3 +5
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. References Lord: Isaiah 5:12. Parallel theme: Psalms 10:5, 2 Samuel 7:13, John 12:37, Romans 1:28
Blessed be the LORDLord: יְהוָה / אֲדֹנָי (YHWH / Adonai). When 'LORD' appears in small capitals, it represents the Tetragrammaton YHWH (יְהוָה), God's personal covenant name meaning 'I AM.' When 'Lord' appears normally, it's Adonai (אֲדֹנָי), meaning 'my Lord,' emphasizing sovereignty., because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Resurrection: Psalms 69:30. References Lord: Psalms 3:3, 28:8, 84:11, Isaiah 61:10, Ephesians 6:10. Faith: Psalms 13:5, 40:3, 91:4, Isaiah 12:2 +5
The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. References Lord: Psalms 20:6, 140:7, 1 Samuel 16:13, Isaiah 61:1
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever. Salvation: Isaiah 63:9. Parallel theme: Psalms 25:22, 78:71, Deuteronomy 9:29, 1 Kings 8:51, 8:53, Ezra 1:4, Isaiah 40:11, Matthew 2:6, Ephesians 1:18 +5
