Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Salvation comes through washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Our salvation isn't based on righteous deeds we've done but on God's mercy. This mercy manifests through two beautiful images: the washing of rebirth and the renewal by the Holy Spirit. We're not just cleaned up; we're born again and continually renewed by God's Spirit living in us.
