Following Jesus requires daily denial of self and taking up our cross.
Jesus says anyone who would follow Him must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him. This is a daily decision, not a one-time commitment. Self-denial means saying no to our own desires when they conflict with God's will. The cross represents death to self and surrender to Christ. True discipleship costs everything but gives us life.
