AdventThe Word Made Flesh
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The eternal Word didn't just visit earth—He became flesh and made His dwelling among us.
This verse describes the greatest miracle in history: God taking on human nature without ceasing to be God. The Word who created all things subjected Himself to the limitations of time, space, and human experience. We beheld His glory—not the glory of power and might that we expected, but the glory of grace and truth embodied in a person.
For Today
Consider today how Jesus understands your human struggles because He truly became one of us, experiencing hunger, fatigue, temptation, and sorrow.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, we worship You for setting aside heaven's glory to live among us. Thank You for understanding our human condition through Your own experience. Amen.
