AdventThe Eternal Word
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Before time began, the Word already existed in perfect unity with God.
This verse reveals the divine nature of Christ, who is both with God and is God himself. The Word who spoke creation into existence would soon take on flesh to dwell among us. His eternal nature assures us that our salvation rests on the foundation of God's unchanging character.

Begin this Advent season by meditating on Christ's eternal existence and divine nature, remembering that the baby in the manger is also the eternal God who created all things.
Prayer
Eternal Word, we worship You as the One who was in the beginning with God. Help us comprehend the wonder that You, the Creator of all, came to us as a vulnerable child. Amen.
