The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Jesus inaugurated His ministry by declaring His mission to set captives free.
Standing in the synagogue at Nazareth, Jesus announced that He was the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy. His mission was liberation in every dimension—spiritual freedom from sin, emotional freedom from trauma, physical freedom from oppression. This remains His mission today through His church.

Pray for someone you know who is held captive by addiction, fear, or spiritual bondage, asking Jesus to set them free.

Lord Jesus, You came to proclaim freedom to captives. Continue Your liberating work in my life and in the lives of those I love. Amen.
