7 versesBehold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.
They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.
