Peace

Do Not Be Afraid

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Luke 1:30

· · ·

Gabriel's first words to Mary addressed the fear that naturally arises when encountering the divine.

The angel's reassurance reveals God's character—He comes not to condemn but to extend favor. Mary had found grace with God, chosen for the highest honor ever given to a human. Her fear was natural, but God's favor meant she had nothing to dread. This same God extends grace to us through Mary's son.

When God calls you to something difficult, remember that His favor accompanies His calling, and fear need not control your response.

Gracious God, calm our fears with the assurance of Your favor. Like Mary, may we trust Your plans even when they surpass our understanding. Amen.
