Samson Tells His Secret

A Bible Story for Kids

Samson Delilah The Philistines

Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah. But she didn't really love him back. She loved money more.

The Philistine leaders came to her. 'Find out why Samson is so strong. We'll pay you lots and lots of silver!'

Delilah asked Samson, 'What makes you so strong? How could someone capture you?'

Samson made up a story. 'Tie me with fresh bowstrings.'

That night, Delilah tied him up. 'Samson! The Philistines are here!'

SNAP! Samson broke free easily. He had tricked her.

'You lied to me!' Delilah pouted. 'Tell me the REAL secret!'

Samson made up another story. And another. Each time Delilah tried to capture him, and each time he broke free.

Every single day, Delilah nagged and nagged. 'If you really loved me, you'd tell me your secret!'

Finally, Samson was SO tired of her nagging. He told her the truth. 'My hair has never been cut. I've been dedicated to God since before I was born. If my hair is cut, I'll become weak.'

That night, while Samson slept, Delilah had someone cut off all his hair.

'Samson! The Philistines!'

Samson jumped up to fight—but his strength was GONE! He didn't even know that God's power had left him.

The Philistines grabbed him and hurt his eyes so he couldn't see. They put him in prison to work like an animal, grinding grain.

Samson had played games with God's special gift for too long. He made bad choice after bad choice. But in prison, something began to happen: his hair started growing again...
