The Believers Share Everything
The early church lives in remarkable unity, sharing possessions, meeting daily in the temple and homes, and experiencing the Lord's favor and growth.
In the immediate aftermath of Pentecost, the newly birthed church embodied a supernatural unity. The believers continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. All that believed were together and had all things common, selling their possessions and goods and parting them to all men as every man had need.
Continuing daily with one accord in the temple, they also broke bread from house to house, eating their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God and having favour with all the people.
The Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. The early church learned that faithfulness to God's design produces fruitfulness in God's timing. The church's primary calling was to be the church—devoted, unified, generous, worshipful, and loving. When they fulfilled this calling, God added daily to their number.
