Zedekiah
Generation 13 from Adam
Biography
Originally named Mattaniah, the son of Josiah who was placed on Judah's throne by Nebuchadnezzar and renamed Zedekiah. Though warned repeatedly by Jeremiah, he was a weak king who vacillated between heeding the prophet and fearing his officials. His rebellion against Babylon led to Jerusalem's destruction, and he witnessed the execution of his sons before being blinded and taken to Babylon.
Zedekiah exemplifies the tragedy of weak leadership and the severe consequences of refusing to heed God's warnings through His prophets.
