Peter Learns a Big Lesson
A Bible Story for Kids
Peter was Jewish, and Jewish people had special rules. They couldn't eat certain foods. They didn't visit non-Jewish people (called Gentiles).
But God was about to teach Peter something new!
One day, a Roman soldier named Cornelius had a vision. An angel told him, 'Send for a man named Peter!'
Cornelius sent his servants right away.
Meanwhile, Peter was praying on a rooftop. He got hungry. Then he saw a strange vision—a big sheet coming down from heaven, full of animals!
A voice said, 'Get up, Peter! Kill something and eat!'
Peter saw animals that Jewish people weren't supposed to eat. 'No way, Lord! I've NEVER eaten anything unclean!'
The voice said, 'Don't call anything unclean if GOD has made it clean!'
This happened THREE times. Peter was confused. What did it mean?
Just then, Cornelius's servants arrived. 'Will you come to our master's house?'
The Holy Spirit told Peter, 'Go with them. I sent them.'
Peter went to Cornelius's house—something a Jewish person wouldn't normally do! Lots of Gentiles were there, waiting to hear about Jesus.
Peter understood now! 'God has shown me that no PERSON should be called unclean! Jesus is for EVERYONE!'
Peter told them about Jesus. And WOW! The Holy Spirit came on all of them—just like at Pentecost!
The other Jewish believers were amazed. 'God's gift is for Gentiles too?!'
YES! God loves everyone. The good news of Jesus is for ALL people, everywhere!
